Design of the Year of the Rat Silver Coin
This is the third Year of the Rat coin to be released by the Perth Mint and it is referred to as part of its Lunar III series.
The front of the coin features an image of two rats standing on two ears of corn. One mouse is sitting at the bottom, holding a kernal of corn in his claws, and eating. The second rat is standing on one ear of corn and reaching to the other to grab a kernal from it. The rats are facing each other. To the right of the image is written the word 'Mouse' followed by the year '2020'.
The reverse of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II, the current Head of the Commonwealth to which Australia belongs. Written above the coin are the words 'Elizabeth II' and 'Australia'. Below the coin are it's weight, purity, face value and metal type. The periodic symbol for the coin, Ag, is written instead of the world 'silver'. These coins contain 9999+ fine investment grade silver bullion. This means that they meet standards as some of the purest silver bullion coins available on the market. Each coin has a face value of $2 AUD, which means that they are recognised by the government of Australia as having a legal tender value of $2AUD each, and this value is backed by the Australian government.
