The Call of the Wild - Canadian Gold Coin Series

08 Mar 2020 - Coins Gold

The Call of the Wild gold coin series was first launched in 2014 by the Royal Canadian Mint. This was the first special edition 99999 fine gold coin series offered by Canada. These gorgeous coins are inspired by Canada's incredible wildlife

Each of these coins contains one troy ounce of 99999 fine gold bullion, and are made with an incredibly high level of precision. These are the purest gold coins currently available in the precious metals market. Each coin has a legal tender value of 200 CAD, which is backed by the government of Canada. In order to prevent counterfeiting, each coin also has a Canadian maple leaf security hologram embedded into the design of the coin.

Special features of the coins

The Call of the Wild series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint has a number of unique qualities. Each coin has a signature maple leaf privy mark, which first appeared on Canadian gold coins in 2014. The Maple Leaf privy is found on the backside of each Canadian gold coin and is engraved via a laser. Gold is a soft metal, and coins as pure as the 99999 fine gold Canadian coins can scratch easily. In order to prevent this, they are sold in their own independent certicard. This also acts as a Certificate of Authenticity on behalf of the Royal Canadian Mint.

Design features

All the coins in the Royal Canadian “The Call of the Wild”’ series have the same design on the front. Each coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It also features the year of the coin's issue engraved in the middle, with its face value of 200 CAD. The words “Elizabeth II,” and the Latin phrase “D.G. Regina” are inscribed at the top of the coin.

The reverse side of each coin features a new wildlife animal each year.
